Scottish Borders Cycle
A cycle challenge taking you through hundreds of years of history! The Scottish borders cycle ride takes you from Gretna Green on the West coast through the Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park to Berwick-Upon-Tweed on the East.
This ride will take you from the plains of the Solway Firth up in to the hills of Northumberland, affording you views across the Southern Uplands and the Keilder Forest. On the way you will ride past the site of many famous battles, finishing within sight of Brewick castle. Here you will have the chance for a relaxing night, a good meal and a celebratory drink whilst you look back on the day.
This is a one day ride requiring a good level of fitness, as you will cover just over one hundred miles in the day!
A challenging one day cycle tour taking you along the entire length of the Scottish border.
Starting out in the world famous village of Gretna Green you and your team will ride out and in to the Scottish hills. You will have a gentle start to the day with the bigger hills coming later in the morning. As you climb higher you will start to get fantastic views out over the Solway Firth and the Southern Uplands.
The highest point of the ride is where we stop for lunch, with great views into both Scotland and England. To the South the expanse of the Keilder forest and Northumberland National Park stretch out to the horizon.
After a filling lunch to recharge your batteries for the afternoon you will begin your descent towards the River Tweed, which will lead you out to the North Sea. This part of the ride will take you through the sites of many historic battles where the Scots and English fought for control.
The ride finishes up in Berwick-Upon-Tweed where you can look back on your challenge and enjoy a celebratory drink.

Meet the team
Tonight you will meet your leaders and team mates for the next days ride. Your leaders will give you a brief for the morning and have a quick check of bikes ready for the morning.
You will then have the rest of the evening free to get to know your team and enjoy a hearty meal before a good nights sleep.
Up bright and early for breakfast before bringing your bags down to the van, and getting your bikes to the start line ready to leave at 8.00 AM
Your leaders will guide you along the route, offer for advice as you ride, and be there in case of any mechanical issues. The support team will have gone on ahead with your bags and will meet you at the lunch point. Here you will get a little bit of rest, plus a hearty lunch to fuel you through the afternoon.
After lunch your ride leader will lead you down to the Tweed, which you will then follow to the historic border town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Once you have all congratulated each other for your accomplishment you will have the chance for a quick change out of your ride kit and have a celebratory drink.
